Entering A Hotel Room
The following are helpful hotel tips from the time one enters their assigned room, throughout their stay. Let start with Entering the room for the first time. Just because the front desk clerk gave you a key you are not bound to that room. Before even bring the luggage into the room or leaving it near the door, the following are all go things to check:
Check the view: When looking out the window is there a wall, rooftop, another building, alley, or a view that isn't acceptable. Don't touch anything but the phone and call down to the front desk immediately and request another room.
Check the room/bathroom: Does it meet the needs and expectations set, does it have everything it is suppose to have. Is is it a mess, run down, smell, or just plain not what you expect. Don't touch anything but the phone and call down to the front desk immediately and request another room.
BED BUGS! Bed bugs like to live in the crack of the mattress, between the mattress and box spring, and behind the end tables. Always pull the sheets back from one corner of the bed and check the mattress. It is said that their fecies looks like salt & pepper (similar to termites) around the bed. If there is a end-table next to the bed, pull it out. Bed Bugs tend to hide between tables and walls in the dark places. Do not bring your luggage into the room until this check has been preformed! If any are found, don't touch anything not even the phone phone, just get out and go down to the front desk immediately. Quietly inform them of the situation and request a room in the opposite end of the hotel.
All of the above can be considered unacceptable rooms. If another room is available they will move you. If they say don't worry we'll send someone up to move you. Don't accept that. You will be waiting over an hour and they will hope that you will forget and just stay in the room. Graciously thank the front desk and inform them you are not touching anything and will be right down for a new key to another room.
